No
other motto would better depict the roots and dreamlike nature of this
magnificent beach located in Nebi Younes Bay, near the Porphyrian ruins in
South Lebanon. In fact, the beach derives its name from the Prophet Jonas,
who, according to old legends, was devoured by a big fish on this very coast
for 3 days and 3 nights after which he was released.
Today,
Jonas beach is a popular summer locale where sunbathers can just laze around
on the sandy beach while sports fanatics can enjoy a real good time through a
handful of water sports on offer including body board, windsurf, seadoo, and
palette, to name a few. The beach’s restaurant offers snacks, fresh fish and
tempting evening barbecues.
Facilities
include a cabin for each visitor, 5 lifeguards, and 20 showers with chlorined
water. Beach access is provided in two ways, either through Seasonal
Membership (May through October), priced at L.L. 300,000 per person or through
entrance tickets for weekdays and weekends priced at L.L. 12,000 for adults
and 6,000 for children.
